Torendael, Vivium Care Group
Torendael is located in the south of Amsterdam. It is a place where people with severe dementia can live their lives as they used to. It is a familiar environment in which residents can continue to make their own choices as much as possible, and where the emphasis is on their well-being. Struck by the vision, Torendael encouraged a merger with the Vivium Care Group, owner of The Hogeweyk®.
Torendael is an excellent example of how The Hogeweyk® Care Concept can be applied to different environments. Housed in a multi-storey building, the residential home was completely transformed. The focus was adapted to people with severe dementia living together based on the Hogeweyk® concept. This meant a cultural change and professional upgrade for the organisation, as well as a complete renovation of the building.
How we supported
In her role as director, Jannette was responsible for leading the transition from an assisted living facility to a home for people living with dementia. Other Be advisors supported the design, cultural change and training of staff in several areas. Various sessions were held with employees and the client council to create support for the vision and gather valuable information. Most of the employees paid a study visit to The Hogeweyk®, and we hosted vision and lifestyle workshops for the staff. We supported the creation of the business case.
