The Village at Crossmount
The Village at Crossmount is designed to provide living services, amenities and activities to the elderly. The centre facilitates residents’ independent living until such a time when more services or support become necessary—ageing in place. To provide care for seniors within The Village that may develop dementia, Crossmount is now developing a project on the same land to house 150 residents living with severe dementia.
How we supported
Fascinated by the Hogeweyk®’s vision and concept, Duncan McKercher and Heike Heimann (project developers and owners) partnered with Be Advice to develop and design the first Hogeweyk®-certified community for people living with severe dementia in North America. We were part of the steering committee and served as a sounding board for the duration of the project. We worked with a dedicated team, including an architect, during a three-day, in-depth study & orientation session. We also provided input for a convincing business case and oversaw the architectural and landscape design. We advised stakeholders (including leading politicians), used our name and fame, and offered PR support.
